Migraine to blame for Serene Branson video blunders

The speech issues featured in the viral film of Serene Branson were likely the product of a migraine. The video of Branson, which went viral, featured the reporter slurring her words and fumbling for the right thing to say, which many believed to be caused by too much to drink or possibly a stroke. Branson has been clinically diagnosed and healed.

Branson didn't have a stroke

After the Grammy Awards in LA concluded, media reporter Serene Branson was sent to give some post event coverage by KCBS TV. The reporter can't talk well while speaking nonsense in the Serene Branson Grammy coverage video before another story was cut to. The film has gone viral and was flagged as a media reporter on air while drunk, and several people thought that Serene Branson had a stroke. MSNBC reports though that Serene Branson just had a migraine which was found after several tests. She had noticed that before she went on camera, she had difficult reading, forming thoughts and had gone numb on the right side of her face, which brought on her speech issues.

Migraines more than just a headache

A migraine is not just an aggressive headache; it’s a complex event that takes place in the brain. A "migraine aura" was what Branson experienced which is much like a stroke in the symptoms that are shown in it, according to the Los Angeles Times. Symptoms such as a change in vision, seeing lights blurry or brighter than normal, feeling numb, having a hard time talking or other things can all be symptoms of a migraine aura in accordance with WebMD, although it doesn't occur during all migraines.

Several can't deal with the pain

Those with migraines know how difficult it is. It could be hard to do anything. Several headaches are really terrible although a lot of people can just lie down for a while. Individuals who experience migraines with auras might want to seek medical attention, as they can be severe. Risk factors like smoking and family history of migraines can increase risk although the cause of them is unknown.

CIA informer Curveball confesses he lied in helping Bush start Iraq war

An informant called "Curveball" who was credited with intelligence used to start the Iraq war has confessed that he lied to the CIA. Iraqi defector Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, who was given the deal with Curveball, passed along bogus information about clandestine bioweapons in Iraq. Curveball now states he lied about weapons of mass destruction so that Bush would invade Iraq and get rid of Hussein. This isis a story a payday loan couldn’t have purchased to make up.

Bush and Powell support lie from Curveball

Claims by Curveball that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction have long been discredited. For years, Curveball has said it is truth. He told the Guardian though that it was a lie on February 16. Al-Janabi told German intelligence agents that bioweapons laboratories were being hidden in Iraq after escaping from Saddam Hussein's Iraq and going to Germany. United States Secretary of State Colin Powel spoke to the United Nations while George W. Bush gave a State of the Union address in 2003 to confirm the truth in Curveball's claims. In March 2003, the United States invaded Iraq. Bush admits that there were not weapons of mass destruction in Iraq eventually though.

Tale from Curveball worries CIA

When al-Janabi got there, it was hard to believe him. German intelligence was not so sure about what was going on. The asylum application was what previous CIA in Europe Tyler Drumheller thought al-Janabi's false testimony was about. Drumheller never believed his inconsistent tale and warned CIA Chief George Tenet that Curveball was unreliable. Drumheller spoke to the Guardian after al-Janabi's confession saying that Curveball was “one of the world’s greatest strategic planners," if he lied to oust Hussein. No matter what the truth was, the Bush administration only had Curveball's story as evidence to use to go to war which is why it was used, Drumheller said.

Curveball's truth hurts him

The man called Curveball said he was proud of helping the Bush administration start the Iraq war, which has killed almost 4,500 United States military personnel and more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians. It’s a criminal offense to do anything that leads to war in Germany, which is al-Janabi's home. German intelligence paid al-Janabi for five years after it was known that he had lied; $4,000 a month. Germans want to know why that is. In Iraq, politicians scorned his stated desire to return and called for his permanent exile.

Bahrain demonstrations turn lethal as military fires on disarmed crowds

Protests similar to the recent occurrences in Egypt have been spreading, but protests in Bahrain have turned lethal. Bahrain security forces have shown no compunction about shooting at disarmed crowds of people of demonstrators. Political demonstrations have begun erupting all over the Middle East, with people of several nations requiring reforms and greater amounts of democratic input. Security forces in Bahrain and in Libya have met demonstrations by unarmed civilians with lethal force.

Reforms demanded from Bahrain demonstrators

The Middle East is beginning to become increasingly volatile, as demonstrators in numerous nations have started demanding democratic reforms. On Feb. 14, just days after the resignation of Egyptian president Mubarak, protesters began taking to the streets of Manama, in accordance with The Telegraph, and have been protesting for several days. Force has been used on protestors, even with open fire, by the Bahraini security. Tear gas and live rounds were used Friday February 18 on demonstrators. This ended up killing 2 while the day before, five were killed with open fire. Bahraini demonstrators have been engaging in peaceful demonstrations and have not been openly carrying weapons or firing on police.

Protestors in Bahraini request democracy and civil liberties to be granted

Civil rights for the Shi'ite group in the Middle East are what protesters are asking for in Bahrain. Shi'ites is not equally addressed with Sunnis, the New York Times reports. This is since the royal family of Bahrain and King Hamad bin-Isa al-Khalifa is Sunni. They think the country ought to change also to a democracy. Demonstrators no longer want a constitutional monarchy. After funerals of those killed by police during protests Thursday, several Bahrainis went to the heart of Manama in Pearl Square calling it a "Day of Rage." This was despite the warnings given to demonstrators to stay out.

Demonstrations spread after Tunisia and Egypt turmoil

Both Tunisia and Egypt's rulers left after uprisings. This caused demonstrations in Yemen, Libya and Bahrain to start. Libyans have taken to the streets, calling for the ouster of the long time ruler of Libya, Muammar al-Gaddafi. Since 24 protesters from cities have been killed by Libyan security in the last few days, it’s clear the forces have had a bad response, USA Today reports.

South Dakota bill calls eliminating abortion doctors sensible homicide

Women seeking abortions in South Dakota might have to face already tough laws made even tougher. South Dakota ran abortion clinics out of the state in 1994, and even Planned Parenthood is only allowed to fly an agent in for special scenarios. Now the South Dakota legislature is thinking about the even tougher Republican-backed House Bill 1171. "Justifiable homicide" would be expanded in scope to condone the killing of those who would harm a fetus, for instance abortion doctors. Individuals take out huge pay day loans to see abortion doctors.

Sensible death to South Dakota abortion doctors

With a 9 to 3 party line vote, House Bill 1171 made it out of committee. It’s sponsored by long time anti-abortion activist and South Dakota state Rep. Phil Jensen. His stated intention with the bill is to bring "consistency" to South Dakota’s criminal code, which allows prosecutors to charge individuals with manslaughter or murder in crimes that trigger the death of unborn fetuses.

However, such crimes involve the murder of pregnant women, too, which is rather different than what House Bill 1171 proposes. What Jensen is hoping for is that women who want an abortion can only get one with the illegal help of someone else getting illegally involved while changing the meaning of justifiable murder.

‘This isn’t an abstract bill’

Rep. Jensen's House Bill 1171 is "an invitation to murder abortion providers," according to National Abortion Federation's Vicki Saporta who spoke with Mother Jones. Extremists can get away with murder. That is what the bill does. Giving a fetus personhood is what the bill is about in accordance with Kristin Aschenbrenner of the South Dakota Advocacy Network for Women.

House Bill 1171 might not be abstract, but it may be legally dubious, says law Prof. Sara Rosenbaum of George Washington University.

"It takes my breath away," Rosenbaum said via e-mail. "Constitutionally, a state cannot make it a crime to perform a constitutionally lawful act."

Entrance guidance needed with House Bill 1217

The CPC, or Crisis Pregnancy Center would give anti-abortion counseling to women considering abortion with House Bill 1217. This is to go along with House Bill 1171. Such CPCs were the subject of a 2006 congressional investigation that found the information disseminated was often false or misleading.

Stay in hospital does not follow possible Grammy stroke

Early reports indicated that Branson, CBS News press reporter, had been hospitalized. Serene Branson was not put in the hospital, however. Branson's reported stroke was caught on live video during the Grammy Awards. Serene Branson was checked out by paramedics. She was not put in the hospital, and was driven home by a co-worker. The healthcare bills she would get if she didn’t have a stroke would have caused a lot more than a pay day loan would have covered. Post resource – Serene Branson not hospitalized after possible Grammy stroke by MoneyBlogNewz.

Serene Branson’s possible stroke at Grammys

CBS is where Serene Branson works in Los Angeles and has received two Emmy awards. Several noticed that Branson started to slur her words and couldn't be understood. This was during the Grammy awards. Several were worried about the expression on Branson's face for 10 to 15 seconds. She couldn't seem to talk. Stroke warning signs do this thing. The paramedics showed up. Support and worry for Branson was shown by enthusiasts although Twitter users initially pointed and laughed at the video.

youtube.com/watch?v=PkYS8DXcMew&feature=player_embedded

Now, Branson is ‘feeling fine’

While reporting the Grammy awards, reports initially said Branson was put in the hospital for stroke. A statement was released by CBS 2 news though that said:

“Serene Branson was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast. Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home, and she says that she is feeling fine this morning.”

Slurred speech for some other reasons

The rumor of Branson getting hospitalized because she possible had a stroke at the Grammys traveled fast. The slurred speech she displayed was what had caused this rumor to spread. Slurred speech is one of probably the most common indicators of a stroke. Other things can be happening with slurred speech. It does not have to be a stroke. Distorted speech, or dysathria, can be brought on by a brain injury, a tumor, a facial weakness, medications or even facial paralysis.

Guitar Hero shutdown might or might not affect Rock Band

"Guitar Hero", designed by Activision/Blizzard, has played its last chord. The video game could be turned off by publisher Activision. Similar series "Rock Band" hasn’t announced plans to turn off – yet.

'Guitar Hero’ will not last any longer

"Guitar Hero's" death was something that video game maker Activision declared Thurs morning is over. The “casual-gamer” title was once a mega-hit. Of all games, "Guitar Hero" was the first to get over $1 billion in sales. This happened in Jan 2009. U.S. sales last year dropped by more than 8 percent, costing the company $9.36 billion. Activision will stop sales of "DJ Hero" and "Guitar Hero" along with downloadable content starting in February. Activision will be laying off a staff of approximately 500 people.

Survival of ‘Rock Band’ likely

2 different businesses created "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero". "Rock Band" is owned by Viacom and MTV Games which makes it easier and cheaper to make deals and distribute. The setup pack is more expensive for "Rock Band" keeping the company profitable. Nevertheless, "Guitar Hero" controllers could be used for the game. Also, "Guitar Hero" sales have passed away while "Rock Band" sales have continued strong. "Rock Band" isn't doing really well though. When "The Beatles: "Rock Band"" came out in 2009, millions were anticipated to sell. In three months, only $1.7 million in product was sold with the game.

What is going to happen to music gaming?

The reason for the "Guitar Hero" shut down is because of the "rapid decline in the music genre" supposedly. The music genre has always been sold by motion systems like Wii and Kinect. The games have to be mostly on dancing rather than as part of the band though. A reduction in the hardware component of sales has been seen. This means the lower-profit, higher-sales software could be necessary for businesses to make money.

Giffords speaks as rehabilitation is working

Rehab and recovery are going swimmingly well, as Gabrielle Giffords talks again. Giffords is capable of some simple speech, which is proof that the extreme physical therapy she is undergoing is working. The wounds she received are normally deadly.

Improvement by AZ Congresswoman

The hospital in Tucson, AZ, where AZ Congresswoman Giffords was staying, has moved her to a physical therapy facility located in Houston, Texas. She will recover from her brain injury there. After Jared Lee Loughner shot Giffords in the Tucson shooting, she has been recovering from the brain injury. On January 8, she was rushed to a Tuscan hospital after being shot in the head, and nearly a month later, she has begun speaking again, according to CBS. The TIRR Memorial Herman hospital is where she is doing physical rehabilitation. It has been extreme for her. Giffords was moved there because the hospital specializes in physical rehabilitation for victims of severe head and brain trauma.

Giffords has an appetite and can speak again

A spokesman explained the talk therapy that Giffords is going through it going well. Since Giffords had a breathing tube recently, it is unknown how she is talking since either she would have to have a vent placed in the tube or it would have to be removed completely. Her urge for food has also returned. This can be a milestone. Her Facebook page recently had a comment from her husband, Mark Kelly. He said, “Gabby’s urge for food is back — even though it’s hospital food.” Kelly's Space Shuttle Endeavour is on hold. He will return in April at the soonest.

Courthouse to be named for victim

After the Tucson shooting that killed six and wounded 13, Congress has passed a bill to name a federal courthouse after one of the victims, Reuters reports. Chief Judge John M. Roll was killed in the shooting. A new courthouse can be titled after him after being built in Yuma, Arizona. The building should open in 2013.

Super Bowl gambling cleans out Las Vegas bookies

The Super Bowl turned out to be a losing bet for Las Vegas. Vegas bookmakers took a bath when the preferred Green Bay Packers won by a decisive margin. It is expected to be the worst loss for Vegas bookies on the Super Bowl since 1993. People lost and won money from the short term cash loans they got for their gambling needs. Source of article – Las Vegas sports book takes a bath on Super Bowl betting by MoneyBlogNewz.

Super Bowl was bad news for casinos in Vegas

The books for Las Vegas ended up losing with the Super Bowl betting. The 31-25 victory the Packers showed helped with the 2 ½ point favorites. Several factors show a huge loss for casinos. This is taking into consideration the numbers will not be released until Tues by casino officials. The 3 point spread was covered by the Packers that most favored. There were reports of at least two $1 million bets on the Packers. Most bet the Packers would win the game that had 56 points total while the Super bowl over/under was at 45.5 points. The Steelers were preferred by 2 ½ points by Vegas even though they were down by 11 at halftime but coming back.

Las Vegas has more that didn't go well

The Las Vegas sports book lost on the Super bowl because amateur gamblers tend to bet on the favorite and think the over/under is too low. Sports books hope the favorite wins, but don’t cover the spread in a low-scoring game. If the favorites fail to cover in the win, the bet to them loses. Because the Packers were preferred by 2 1/2 and won by six, gamblers wagering on Green Bay liked a big payday. The Steelers were preferred by 2 ½ in the second half of the game by Vegas sports book which makes it worse. The Steelers were down 11 when the second half started. As the 2 ½ point losers, many realized they could bet on the Steelers. This was because in the second half they were 8 ½ point underdogs. Losing by just six, Pittsburgh delivered for those bettors as well.

Wagering means losing can take place for the house as well

Each year, Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest gambling day of the year. The Vegas Casinos are filled. But the Vegas sports book found itself getting hit by bets on each teams in Super Bowl XLV. In 2010, $82.7 million was bet on the Super Bowl in Vegas. The Gambling establishments collected $6.8 million. Between $95 and $100 million is expected to be what was bet on the Super bowl 2011. This would just be in Las Vegas too. In 2008, the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots. This caused a $2.6 million loss in Las Vegas. On all Super Bowls since 2000, the casinos have averaged a win. About $9.07 million is won each year.

Bellagio Casino robber caught, happens to be a judge's child

It seems like the whole story of the Bellagio Casino robbery came out of a film. There’s a new angle to the storyline, though. Now, the Bellagio Casino story seems more like “Ocean’s 11." A 29-year-old, Anthony Carleo, the child of a municipal judge, has been arrested for the theft. It makes you wonder if his father is going to take out a payday cash advance to bail him out, or let him sit in prison. Article resource – Bellagio Casino arrest: Judge's son stole $1.5 million in chips by MoneyBlogNewz.

Bellagio Casino criminal arrest

On Thurs, Feb. 3, police arrested and charged Carleo for the robbery of the Bellagio casino. Carleo was allegedly caught in a sting, trying to sell some of the $1.5 million in Bellagio poker chips that were stolen in December. Reports say Carleo had met up with undercover police officers in order to sell controlled substances and high-value poker chips taken within the robbery. The thief has several charges to face. These contain trafficking of a controlled substance, use of a deadly weapon and burglary.

Seeing connections the robber has

A typical criminal isn’t what the Bellagio Casino robber is. There was $1.5 million in poker chips that were stolen. He had the guts to do that and is connected in a way. George Assad, the LV Municipal Court Judge, is the father of 29 year old son. It’s anticipated that Judge Assad won't come talk about his son's arrest. He has not thus far.

youtube.com/watch?v=NktlrixHG78&feature=player_embedded

Bellagio Casino criminal arrest leaves unanswered questions

Though the man police believe to be the Bellagio Bandit has been arrested, there are nevertheless several unanswered questions. The way that Carleo got into the casino and back out with poker chips is unknown. It is also interesting that the chips were valuable. The Bellagio and LVPD haven't talked much about high value ships. There may be RFID in the chips implanted if they’re too valuable. The $25,000 poker chips can be discontinued by the Bellagio in April. Other casinos are following suit.

Internet dating site takes data from Facebook without asking

Mark Zuckerberg once got in trouble at Harvard for taking co-ed information from university servers to create FaceMash. He was charged with various offenses that bordered on identity theft. Now that Zuckerberg’s Facebook is the biggest name in online social networking, a couple of activists with an online dating site think he still has a lesson to learn about data security. Cirio and Alessandro Ludovico, founders of courting website Lovely Faces, scraped 250,000 Facebook profiles for names, pictures and locations in order to get their website off the ground. Facebook is displeased that the duo didn’t ask for authorization, and the business might be preparing to sue. Facebook currently makes so much money that they likely won’t need personal loans to take this company to court. Article source – Love! ly Faces scraped from Facebook without permission by MoneyBlogNewz.

What lovely-Faces.com really does

Without obtaining consent, Lovely Faces grabbed Facebook user data and classified images of male and female faces via a recognition algorithm into such categories as "easy going," "smug" or "sly." Cirio and Ludovico are worried about the legality of it all. This is because they used Facebook user's real names as well. Wired explains that they claim Lovely Faces is not for business but for art challenging the idea of sharing online social press personal information.

"If we start to play with the concepts of identity theft and dating, we should be able to unveil how fragile a virtual identity given to a proprietary platform can be," write the Lovely Faces founders on Face to Facebook. "And (we’ll see) how fragile enormous capitalization based on exploiting social systems can be."

What Cirio and Ludovico aim to do to Facebook and any other large-scale monetized online social system is shine a light on the cracks inherent in the system. They’re hoping to make the networks crumble from over-hyped stock evaluations just like in the early 2000s when the bubble burst stopping many dot coms.

Facebook doesn’t value Lovely Faces ‘art’

Facebook Director of Policy Communications is Barry Schnitt who states the social network's terms of service are violated by scarping user data. Facebook is not just jumping to take legal action. The company has to investigate Lovely-Faces.com first. After 100 million Facebook user names and profile addresses were released by the online protection research firm called Skill Security, Facebook sued them. Zuckerberg and business may prosecute again.

Facility from Cuckoo's Nest film supplying remains of patients to families

The mental hospital that "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest" was filmed in is intending to place remains of patients who passed on there with the families of the deceased. Several years back, a room was discovered at Oregon State Hospital, full of cremated remains of patients from years back, which prompted the medical center to try and get the remains to the families of those patients. It could take many installment loans for family members to give these people a proper burial.

Remains at ‘Cuckoos Nest’ hospital

Oregon State Medical center, a psychiatric hospital in Salem, Ore., has been trying to place remains of patients who perished while within the hospital’s care with their families, according to ABC. The center was being toured by legislators in 2004 when an interesting room was found. There were cremated remains of 3,500 patients who had perished in the hospital found in the room. Just recently, the hospital put an online database together. This can be a list of all those who perished between 1914 and 1970 within the medical center and have remains there. The dilapidated center inspired the state of OR to build a new psychiatric hospital, and a memorial for the unclaimed patients will be built in 2012.

Setting for legendary novel and film

The OR State Medical center is where “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” a 1975 film with Jack Nicholson, takes place. Author Ken Kesey was inspired to write the 1962 book that the film is situated on while working at a mental health facility while attending Stanford. While looking for an appropriate location to movie the film, permission was granted to movie at Oregon State Medical center, the largest psychiatric hospital in Oregon. The character in the book and the film of Dr. Spivey, the hospital’s administrator, was played in the movie by Dr. Dean Brooks, according to IMDB. An M.D. in psychiatry is the degree Brooks has. At the time of the filming, he was the administrator at the Oregon State Hospital.

Change film caused with mental health

The movie was credited for altering public perception about the nature of mental illness and psychiatric care, in accordance with The Telegraph, by humanizing people who lived at mental health facilities. There were better standards of treatment and less use of electroconvulsive therapy for mental disorders as a result of film.

2011 revision to the Environmental Protection Agency water supply standards

Federal EPA drinking water specifications are receiving a new update. This announcement comes just a few years late. In 2008, the Environmental Protection Agency petitioned to revision drinking water standards, however the Bush administration disallowed it. These brand new rules deal with 17 individual chemicals. The biggest headline chemical is perchlorate. Individuals hopefully won’t have to take out a cash advance to buy their drinking water filtered. This should help every person have healthy drinking water. Article source – EPA drinking water standards to get a 2011 update by MoneyBlogNewz.

Environmental Protection Agency drinking water standards

The Environmental Protection Agency is responsible for setting standards of allowable contaminants in drinking water. Almost all water supply contains something other than pure hydrogen dioxide — minerals, dissolved solids and thousands of chemicals could be in water. The amount of chemicals and bacteria in water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency. It makes sure water is purified if needs be.

What the Environmental Protection Agency water supply standards say about perchlorate

Perchlorate is a naturally occurring chemical, however it can also be manufactured for use in rocket fuel, bleach, fertilizers and fireworks. The iodine uptake in the thyroid can be affected by the perchlorate although it is not dangerous to human health otherwise. A lack of iodine can lead to clinical depression, neurological disorders, preterm births and obesity. Perchlorate is limited by several states already; however, perchlorate contamination might be what 4 percent of municipal water has in it, which 17 million individuals drink.

VOC compounds in Environmental Protection Agency drinking water specifications

The new 2011 EPA regulations for drinking water contain limits on more than just perchlorate. VOC, volatile organic compounds, are regulated now also. Perchlorate is not the only chemical with a limit. There are 17 chemical limits total that are new. Generally, industrial manufacturing and solvents are where VOC are found. Still, there are terrible effects from them. The compounds from VOC are not good. They are dangerous to get a hold of. The brand new EPA restrictions are set to take impact this year.
