There’s a new project called YouCut. The idea is to alert voters to some of the spending cuts before Congress and get them to sound off about them. The originator of the project is House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va). Visitors can vote online or by text message on which cuts they think are best. Financial reform is a big issue, as the government may be running for some huge installment payday loans to keep up before long.
YouCut wants your input
When the government spends more than it earns, it is troublesome to numerous individuals, including Rep. Eric Cantor. He wants public input, so the site has gone up looking for people to sound off online (unfortunately for Luddites) as to what spending cuts they think are best. Five new spending cuts can be offered each week, and also you can determine which ones are the most egregious. Eric Cantor is the House Minority Whip, and he wants to hear from the public.
How does it work?
To vote, simply visit the YouCut website, part of Eric Cantor's Republican Whip website. Voting is done either online or by text message. You choose from 5 proposed spending cuts. You choose which of the 5 you think should be made. For now, there’s cuts to the Presidential Election Fund, taxpayer subsidies for federal employee union activities, HUD research grants, certain welfare programs, and Community Development and Block Grants to rich neighborhoods.
Not the worst idea
One of the awesome things about the internet is that individuals everywhere can connect and have their voices heard. Part of the horror of the internet is the ability for people everywhere to communicate and express their opinions. Government spending is a big issue these days, and it probably should be. It’s not as if it is all chump change. According to Reuters, the government just posted a deficit for the 19th month in a row.
