Islamic website boasts a death threat for cartoonist Molly Norris

Molly Norris is a Seattle cartoonist, but became well known and almost famous by instigating the, Everyone Draw Mohammad Day, on Facebook. Now Norris is marked for death by a Muslim cleric. The event that took place on the social networking site Facebook was titled, Everyone Draw Mohammad. This was initiated as the creators of the TV show, South Park, had their lives confronted for depicting the Prophet Mohammad in one of their episodes. Molly Norris decided that threatening them was unacceptable and this was a good way to stand up to terrorism. The runaway popularity of the event generated its own brand of hate that rivaled Islamic bigotry. Norris tried to offer a sincere apology stating that here intentions aren’t to offend the whole group, but it made no difference to the terrorist group that nevertheless wants her life. Anwar al-Awlaki wants Molly Norris murdered

Regardless of your own religious beliefs, Muslim law give authorization and encouragement for everyone to be murdered who depicts the Prophet Mohammad in a drawing of any sort. It is strictly against Islamic law to draw Mohammad. Everybody Draw Mohammad Day, got Norris marked by a terrorist leader who’s also on the FBI’s most wanted, Anwar al-Awlaki. The New York Daily News reported that a plot from two New Jersey men to kill U.S. soldiers as well as the recent Fort Hood, Texas massacre were implemented by Anwar al-Awlaki In an Al Qaeda magazine, Inspire, Anwar al-Awlaki was quoted as calling her a “prime target” whose “proper adobe is hellfire.” Muslim terrorists are a very significant threat as outlined by the FBI, and they have made Norris aware of the publications and threats about her.

Norris has already presented an apology to the Muslim people, and called the event off. Even though, Everyone Draw Muhammad Day, became very inappropriate and offensive, she stated that, that was not her intent. The site that published her death mark is used to recruit American Muslims for Jihad, and despite her apology they’re still out to slaughter her. She is not the only one being targeted for drawing Muhammad, a Danish cartoonist, Kurt Westergaard, is also on their list. Westergaard and his granddaughter were forced to take shelter in his homes panic room this past February, when a man recruited to be a Jihad tried to kill him with an axe for his depictions.

The mark for death has caused Molly Norris to take up hiding

Molly Norris posted a YouTube video explaining the real reason behind this day as well as showing a picture she herself drew. She apologized to Muslims who were offended and urged viewers to call off the event. Yet her pleas got her nowhere, and so did her own true feelings. She followed up her video with yet another cartoon about the, Diet of Fear, joking about how if you make the Muslims made you will be scared to eat.

This threat from al-Awlaki has caused Norris to take down all her personal content and close her Facebook account. In addition she also took down her YouTube video that explained the cartoon and idea behind the day.
