Peaceful Muslims should refudiate mosque that was planned by Palin's tweet

Sarah Palin wants peaceful Muslims to “refudiate” the controversial ground zero mosque in New York. The national lexicon now has to word “refudiate” following the numerous tweets Palin had Sunday with the made up word in it. In a series of Sarah Palin tweets, Muslims were urged to join the Tea Party in opposition to a project intended to promote harmony and understanding between cultures.

The media is more interested within the Tea Party after Palin’s refudiate comments. These tweets have caused the whole nation to hear Palin, along with the “Tea Party Americans” that really wanted to hear about it. Palin couldn’t resist giving her opinion on the Manhattan ground zero mosque the Tea Party is using for attention.

There is a project near ground zero which is 13 stories high which will be a mosque, community center, and gym for the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative promoting understanding between Islamic and Western culture, and Palin asks that the “peaceful” Muslims “refudiate”. New York politicians are divided on the issue, CBS News reports. State Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg think the project is an excellent idea; nevertheless, the financing on the project should be investigated if you ask Peter King, the previous Republican congressmen and congressman Rick Lazio, who’s a Republican running for governor.

Palin discuses ‘Peaceful’ Muslims with Twitter

Palin started her foray to the issue of the mosque by tweeting:

“Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn’t it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate”

Liberal tweeters fought back soon after Palin’s tweet. Numerous just made fun of the fact that she didn’t know how to speak. CBS News shows how Jon Henke attacked her comment more than the fact that she made up a word: “We want peaceful Muslims to distinguish themselves from radical Muslims, but we can’t distinguish between a peaceful Mosque and terrorists?”

First there was Shakespeare, then there was Palin

Palin tweeted more after the attention she got. Bloggers continued to skewer Palin for her language choices. After previous tweets urging Muslims to join the Tea Party in opposition to a project that promotes cultural harmony were deleted, she wrapped up the series with a message trying to capitalize on the national punch line she has become: “‘Refudiate,’ ‘misunderestimate,’ ‘wee-wee’d up.’ English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!”

Behind the Palin tweets

Palin’s strategy with the final tweet, according to the Wall Street Journal, was to align herself with previous President George W. Bush, President Barack Obama and the bard, William Shakespeare. “Misunderestimate” was a non-word famously coined by Bush who used the term on various occasions. ”Wee-wee’d up” Obama used about a year ago in August. The term was defined simply by Robert Gibbs: ”I think ‘wee-wee’d up’ is when people get nervous for no particular reason,” he explained
