Build your own Pop-Tarts, with or without the store

Times Square saw the huge fanfare around opening the Pop Tart store, called Pop-Tarts World, just this week. A Pop-Tart vending machine, Pop-Tarts cafĂ©, and Pop-Tarts build-your-own counter are all featured. There is no word yet if the shop can be permanent, since the Times Square rent is $ 1,000 per square foot. Article source – Pop Tart Store- Building your own Pop-Tarts by Personal Money Store.

What the Pop-Tarts store features

The cuisine offered up at Pop-Tarts World is a little taste of anything. At the Pop-Tarts store, you are able to get Pop-Tarts celery, Pop-Tarts cinnamon rolls, and even Pop-Tarts sandwiches. A vending machine lets you create your own 12 pack of Pop-Tarts flavors, for $ 1 per pastry. Finally, the build-your-own Pop-Tarts bar lets you create just about any Pop-Tarts topping and flavor that you can think of.

Pop-Tarts store meant for brand visibility

The Pop-Tarts business decided to open up the Times Square store to show its “brand maturity”. The breakfast bar pastry has seen relatively flat sales for the last few years. In 2009, Kellogg sold $ 481 million worth of Pop-Tarts.

Making your own Pop-Tarts

If you’re not anywhere near the Pop-Tarts store in Times Square, that doesn’t mean you’ve to go without customized Pop-Tarts. It is healthier and cheaper to make Pop-Tarts at home. You are able to avoid the high fructose corn syrup and make your own for about 20 cents per Pop-Tart. In a food processor or bowl, combine 2 cups of flour with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. Mix in 1 cup butter, 1 egg, and 2 tablespoons milk. Roll out the dough and cut it in Pop-Tart sized rectangles. On half of the rectangles, spread anything from chocolate to jam. Use the other half of the dough to top off the filling, and seal it by pressing a fork around the edges. Refrigerate the dough when you pre-heat the oven to 350, and then bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
