Craigslist has caught heat in current years for allowing online ads for prostitution and "girlfriend experience" (GFE) to publish. It has proven almost impossible for Craigslist to weed out all offending ads, accounts Bronx News. Craigslist Albany is one of the most current segment of the national site to fall prey to an internet prostitution ring plying its skin trade. Twenty-five-year-old Ross Campbell, a previous utility worker, has been arrested for pimping out young women via the site. He faces up to 50 years in prison, accounts the Bronx News New York blog.
Craigslist Albany had criminal offenses in abundance
The Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson explained that sex trafficking, kidnapping, rape and other crimes with two "young" victims were occurring via Queens resident Campbell's business on Craigslist Albany. This is reportedly the first such online-related conviction in Bronx County and one of only a couple of made under New York’s Sex Trafficking statute that became law in 2007. Promoting prostitution had been the only thing that wasn't a Class B felony under Ross Campbell's Craigslist Albany crimes. This means up to 25 years in jail for each offense can be sentenced. Thus, consecutive terms are possible, yet a combined term might occur.

Campbell had an intimate relationship with a 19 year old woman who had a three year old child. This is why she came to the Bronx, court docs say, thinking she'd be residing with him. She said she was "forced to engage in prostitution" as they threatened her child would be harmed or killed otherwise. This was after she was relocated to an apartment that Daniel Ebron, or Campbell's cousin, rented. The woman worked as a prostitute for customers solicited via Craigslist Albany ads until she eventually managed to get away with her son.
