National Aeronautics and Space Administration teams with DARPA for Hundred Year Starship

There is a new joint venture between Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The onus of the project is designing and eventually building a spacecraft that will take people and enough supplies and equipment to Mars. It's called the Hundred Year Starship, but the journey would be a bit different from the moon landings. The catch is that the individuals on this mission won’t come back.

NASA and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency are working together on a project which was announced at the Long Conversation conference in San Francisco by NASA Ames Research Center's Pete Worden. The 2 govt agencies have asked for help on the project called the Hundred Year Starship, the Telegraph reports. Getting donations is something the businesses are focusing on when talking to the world's billionaires. Larry Page, Google co-founder, is one of the people being asked. Next year would be when the first design is accessible. This project is far more ambitious than the DARPA Challenge, an endurance race for self-driving automobiles. Getting astronauts and cargo to Mars is the challenge being worked on with the project. The astronauts wouldn't be coming back though, which is as opposed to Apollo 11 and also the International Space Station.

You may only ride one way

The distances between Earth and other planets does not lend itself very easily to a ferry service. Journeying to Mars takes months. Nine months are needed for it. Anyone who lands there will have to be self sufficient. Only $1 million is in the budget for the project. That's bad because it will probably cost around $10 billion, says NASA . Four pounds of fuel are needed for each and every one pound of equipment being moved into space, accounts Fox News. It is really hard for making it possible to get to Mars. Finding a way to come back can be near impossible.

Colonization and also the final frontier

Colonizing planets is what the plan is with the first space exploration plan with Mars. The plan would involve getting astronauts to live on Mars. This would lead them to be there permanently. There would have to be some way to adjust to the lifestyle on Mars. This planet, at some point, will die. There has to be another place Mankind will live if the planet dies.
