UPS plane and truck delivery postponed over strange ink toner

U.S. and U.K. airports are put on high alert after a UPS plane had been found to have a suspicious package. UPS planes and trucks across the United States have also been delayed for further inspection. The suspicious packages are mostly “manipulated” printer toner cartridges.

UPS shipments delayed around the world

This morning, high alert had been what all U.S. airports were put on. All of this happened because of a suspicious package found Thursday. It had been found in the United Kingdom on a UPS plane. Inspection had to occur in all cargo flights in Newark and Philadelphia along with a UPS truck in New York. Any packages and flights from Yemen specifically are being checked. This is the purpose of all of this. Checking out all of the suspicious shipments is the plan of the Transportation Security Administration and UPS officials who are working together.

Had to bring in the bomb squad to have a look at UPS shipments

The original plane within the U.K. that was postponed had a toner cartridge in it. The manipulated toner cartridge tested negative for explosives but is being further tested. A bomb squad had been called in to examine a UPS truck in the New York area as well. In general, the risk from these packages is believed to be relatively small.

Acting out of an abundance of caution

UPS trucks and UPS planes are being searched “out of an abundance of caution.”. Airports are not being shut down, nevertheless, as the risk is believed to be relatively small. There won't be much of an impact since there will be a small delay in freight distribution only. In other words, though you will find suspicious packages, the UPS cargo flights and UPS trucks delayed are far from a reason to be fearful of the holiday packages that might soon start arriving on your doorstep.
