Tom Shoes and the Day Without Shoes for awareness

Tom Shoes, a company in California, started A Day Without Shoeswhich is a one day event every year.

A Day Without Shoes aims to raise awareness of kids that do not have access to shoes. The basic act that Toms Shoes encourages participants in A Day Without Shoes to do is very simple – go a day, an hour, even 10 minutes without shoes – it doesn’t take any quick cash, and is a very simple act.

Awareness raise by Tom Shoes

Toms Shoes is a company based in southern California that was founded in conjunction with a non-profit organization.

For every pair of shoes that Toms Shoes sells, they give an additional pair of shoes to a child in need – giving guaranteed loans of opportunity for the price of a pair of shoes. Called one-for-one, this Toms Shoes program has given over 600,000 pairs of shoes to needy kids since they were founded in Might of 2006.

A day without shoes within the year 2010

A Day Without Shoes asks people that usually have and wear shoes in America to “Bare your sole” to raise awareness. Most children in developing countries grow up barefoot.

Without shoes, children would have to suffer cuts, scrapes, infections, and a condition called Podoconiosis. Without shoes, kids are also often not allowed to attend school.

How will I be able to involve myself with A Day Without Shoes?

It is pretty simple to get involved in A Day Without Shoes. Start by being barefoot today. In case you are walking to work or just at your desk in class, just don't wear shoes.

Feel the experience of the cold sidewalk harming your feet that have no protection. Learn to experience life without shoes. If you would like to get even more involved, you can register your shoelessness at www.onedaywithoutshoes.com. The hashtag #harwishoutshoes is what is being used on twitter to track exactly what life without shoes must be like.

@TOMSshoes is also posting throughout the day. Different areas of the country should be posting Facebook groups for those joining in on the One Day Without Shoes.
