Decembrow: Thirty days to make a decision on a purpose

Online feminist community Feministing.com is encouraging women who want to show support for cancer awareness, cancer charities or any substantial charity to grow a unibrow. So whether it is for cancer awareness or anything else that will supposedly progress feminism, ladies should go Frida Kahlo when it comes to the brow-hair. The movement will continue throughout this month, which is why the style is called the "Decembrow".

Decembrow comes after Movember

Decembrow is reportedly the female response to last month’s "Movember," in which men were encouraged to grow mustaches to raise money and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer research. Feministing.com asked females to start the grooming for charity act, or lack thereof, report the Daily Caller. It is okay to use Herbal aids and eyebrow pencils.

It could be argued the Decembrow can make a more dramatic statement on a woman than Movember did on men, however that is not the point of the campaign. It is explained better by Feministing.com. It says:

"While women in the U.S. generally rock two groomed brows, I say let's be inspired by Movember and take this opportunity to let our facial hair grow … for a cause."

The relationship for Decembrow

As the Decembrow campaign is sponsored by Feministing.com, some activists in charge of women’s groups like CEO Penny Nance of Concerned Females for The United States expect the unibrow project to somehow be linked to furthering feminism. The Daily Caller explains that Nance is just like many others who do not see any kind of connection here.

"While I applaud the (Movember) effort to raise awareness and funds to stop prostate cancer, I find it curious that feminists would choose to embrace facial hair and wonder how that is different than any other month of the year," said Nance.

Author and columnist Erica Jong said she "(applauds) anything that galvanizes females to show the power (they) have and often fail to use." This was following the Daily Caller asked for some advice. However, Jong says focusing on something like women’s and childrens’ welfare – instead of leaving the charitable aspect open and focusing entirely on facial appearance – would have served to drive some position home with the Decembrow.
