2018 World Cup in Russia

The 2018 World Cup will be hosted by Russia which beat three other bidders. Russian Prime Minister thinks that the bid procedure is an "unscrupulous competition" though so he refuses to show up to the FIFA bid process. Since Russia is a "growing market" for soccer, the World Cup was assigned there.

Qatar with the World Cup in 2022

Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup, making it the first time the soccer tournament can be located in a Middle Eastern country. Qatar was considered a long-shot bid, and FIFA had expressed concern that the heat in Qatar would make the 2022 World Cup “unhealthy” for some rivals. Air-conditioned stadiums could have to be in Qatar for it. Though it is a tiny country within the Persian Gulf, Qatar marketed itself as a “strong” option for a statement about “trusting” the Middle East.

Changing a bit in the FIFA World Cup process for selecting hosts

Though the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts have just been announced, some are calling for a change to the bidding process. Some reformers are asking that the bid procedure for World Cup hosts be kept to one World Cup at a time. The estimates being more politically neutral are another thing that is being suggested. The International Federation of Association Football World Cup is a huge political and economic event, and the bid procedure and awarding of hosts is sure to remain controversial.
