When he went in for a quick oil change, United States of America citizen Afifi found something he could have never expected. A GPS tracking device had been attached to his automobile. Though they don’t admit they own the machine, the FBI has demanded it be turned over to them. The American Civil Liberties Union has asked Afifi to participate in a lawsuit.
FBI gets oil change surprise
When Yasir Afifi took his vehicle in for an oil change, auto mechanics found a surprise from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A GPS tracking gadget was attached to the undercarriage of the car. Photos of it were posted online. Yasir Afifi’s friend said the FBI issued that Global Positioning System device. The Federal Bureau of Investigation hasn’t officially admitted to having placed the following gadget. It is assumed though considering Afifi had the device collected from police and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials.
Global Positioning System of course without warrant
The GPS tracking device seems to be the result of the recent United States of America 9th circuit court ruling that allows for secret following of automobiles without a warrant. Yasir Afifi thinks he was only being tracked for being half Egyptian since there is no other reason the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be interested in him. Afifi had been son of an Islamic-American community leader although he was actually A United States of America born citizen.
American Civil Liberties Union vows to fight Global Positioning System monitoring
The American Civil Liberties Union quickly contacted Afifi when the FBI machine had been discovered in his vehicle. This is great for the ACLU who wants to challenge the 9th circuit. They wanted a case that would help challenge it. The FBI contacted Afifi six months ago. Afifi cooperated with the FBI, saying that he would be happy to answer questions if his lawyer approved. Following the lawyer contacted the FBI, there were not any more calls back. The Federal Bureau of Investigation said it received an “anonymous tip” that Afifi may be a threat to national security.
