Within the motion-sensing video game industry, the Nintendo Wii has controlled the majority of the market for years. New numbers, however, are proving otherwise. Recent market studies show that more customers today are looking passed the Wii system for more intriguing rival sport consoles. The reality is the Nintendo Wii, which is probably one of probably the most influential video game systems in the 21st century, is losing popularity. Season has been hard for Wii

Nintendo is getting the blame for a decline in revenue and sales this year by U.K. video games retailer GAME. According to Gamestation, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS consoles have not been selling really well. In comparison to this past year, there was a 40 percent drop in sales. Consumers in the U.S. don’t tend to want the Wii anymore. Nintendo is not very looking forward to the low shipment numbers for August, reports Conceivable Tech. There were few Wii’s shipped. There were only 244,000. In contrast to the 357,000 Xbox 360 sales and 226,000 sales for PS3s, total Nintendo Wii sales for that month seem to pale in comparison.

Overall game console sales are in a state of decline. However, with the current trend, if Nintendo does not come up with something fast, chances of reclaiming the lead can be slim to none. Do not get your hopes up though. A new Wii console probably will not come from the Japanese video giant for a while. Next season there may be plans for a new Wii gaming console to be introduced. It nevertheless probably will not be coming out until 2012 at least.

Motion sensor video games competing

The Nintendo Wii is up against a couple of big-time competitors. There were improvements made within the movement sensor remote that Sony launched called the PlayStation Move that is just like the Wii remote. Kinect is a camera based system that makes it so a remote isn’t even needed, which is what Microsoft is working with supposedly. The system records users’ movements, faces and voices using a microphone, camera, depth sensor and processor. In November it will supposedly be available. The two corporations are preparing complete marketing attacks in preparation to the forthcoming holidays.
